Description: You get 12 pieces of clothing:
Dolls' outfit was made from an actual Romanian Folk Costume, about 30-40 years old, communist era; all embroidery was machine made.
The following pieces part of the old costume (about 30-40 years old)
  • Two aprons: black cotton; machine embroidey
  • Vest, black cotton; machine embroidey
    Pieces made of new material
  • blouse: white cotton, machine / commercial embroidey, Tied with a draw-string
  • skirt: white cotton, machine / commercial embroidey, Tied with a draw-string
  • underskirt: white cotton, red and blue machine embroidey. New; not part of the old costume, but design after a real underskirt 70 years old (colored embroidery)
    Sometimes, women had two or even three "underskirts"
  • Shoes: Traditional style shoes (opinci), cowhide, hand made; Ours: cipici or traditional hand knitted shoes.
  • Stockings
  • Bloomers. New fabric, but made according to the traditional design of 19 century (and earlier.) Considering the large number of draw-strings (thus uneasiness of removing the clothes when visiting an outhouse/bathroom, the bloomers had a split in back. )
  • Belt: Romanian Flag Colors (red, yellow, blue / blue is up, red is down) worn on official holidays: King's Day--May 10, National Day--December 1, Harvest Day--in October . Not included: embroidered belt, worn on religious holidays, as Easter, Christmas; also weddings)
