Description: You get 10 pieces of clothing:
Dolls' outfit was made from an actual Romanian Folk Costume, about 80 years old.
The costume's skirt got damaged (ripped) and can't be worn anymore.
All details absolutelly authentic. Blouse, skirt, underskirt, aprons are Museum quality.
One woman's costume makes 3 doll's costumes. We have NONE in stock right now. Soon we will have more (Aroung january 20, 2004.) Note: each is slighlty different (red flower top of sleeve or bottom of sleeve or similar differences).
The following pieces part of the old costume
  • blouse: traditional see-through fabric; hand embroidey, Tied with a draw-string
  • skirt: traditional see-through fabric; hand embroidey, Tied with a draw-string
  • underskirt: white cotton, hand embroidey; one stitch every thread. Tied with a draw-string
    Sometimes, women had two or even three "underskirts"
  • Two aprons: wool; all hand made, starting with raising the sheep, spinning the wool, weaving in a handmade loom
    Tied with a draw-string
    Pieces made of new material
  • Shoes: Traditional style shoes (cipici), hand made; The shoes were hand knitted and a leather sole was applied
    Ours: hand knitted shoes, leather sole applied
  • On holidays, the stockings were hand made lace. Ours, commercial lace.
  • bloomers. New fabric, but made according to the traditional design of 19 century (and earlier.)
    Considering the large number of draw-strings (thus uneasiness of removing the clothes when visiting an outhouse/bathroom) the bloomers had a split in back.
